We have three prizes to give away:
K-3 – $321.00 for their classroom.
4-7 – $321.00 for their classroom and $50.00 for the winning student.
8-12 – $321.00 for their classroom and $100.00 for the winning student.
The essay topics for Elementary students that they can choose from are:
- How do you include friends with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners in your school?
- How do you include a person with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners in all activities during class time, recess, lunch and after school activities?
- What more could you, your classmates, or your school do to include a person with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners?
The essay topics for Middle and High school students that they can choose from are:
- Consider people in your family and school community with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners. What strategies can your school community use to develop further inclusion?
How can you help to include a person with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners in your school community? - How can you help to include a student with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners in extracurricular activities?
- How can you help a person with Down syndrome as well as other neuro-diverse learners to reach their life goals?
Rules:
K-3 -This would be a classroom essay with each student contributing a sentence to complete the 100 words essay.
4-7 -May submit one entry per participant of 100 words or more.
8-12 -May submit one entry per participant of 350 words or more.

Participants, please choose from one of the topics on the list that represents your age group.
Please provide your school and teacher’s name, grade, and mailing address of your school along with your entry.
In entering this contest, you give LMDSS permission to use your essay in all social media outlets.
Winners will be contacted by October 30th, 2023.
